Studies have linked poor oral hygiene to serious problems like cancer, cardiovascular disease, bone loss, and strokes. If you're flossing and brushing at home twice a day, that's great. Doing so is the best way to get a leg up on critical oral hygiene problems. However, getting your teeth cleaned by a dental hygienist helps ensure your teeth are thoroughly cleaned, healthy, and protected.

But that's not all. Other reasons that students choose DAAPB is because we:

HOBE SOUND, Fla. (CBS12) — A significant law enforcement presence gathered in Hobe Sound on Monday morning following the discovery of a young man floating in a waterway by paddleboarders.

The Martin County Sheriff's Office said that the incident took place in the area of the 11000 block of Indian River Drive North, near the intersection of Cabot and Heckler Drive, close to Greenfield Park.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Good Samaritans acted heroically by retrieving the man from the water and performing CPR. He was then rushed to a local hospital for medical care.

At a news conference held on Monday at 11:15 a.m., Sheriff's officials confirmed that the victim, who they said is 29 or 30, is in critical condition but remains alive.

The Sheriff’s Office reported that the situation began around 6 a.m. when the victim’s wife contacted law enforcement. She explained that several hours earlier, they had an argument during which he allegedly hinted at feelings of suicide before leaving their home around 4:30 a.m.

Officials said that evidence from surveillance footage revealed that the man traveled to Martin County, stopped in the Stuart area, and then returned to Hobe Sound.

According to the Sheriff's Office, he parked his car near the intersection of US 1 and A1A and then ran over a mile to the Indian River Drive area. Video footage allegedly shows him running through bushes before jumping off a dock into the water.

Sheriff’s officials stated that there was no visible trauma to the victim; he simply suffered from oxygen deprivation. They believe that if not for the quick actions of the Good Samaritans, the situation could have ended tragically.

Authorities said that they are treating this incident as an attempted suicide. While they are optimistic about the victim’s recovery, they stress that he is not out of danger yet.

During the news conference, Sheriff John Budensiek emphasized the importance of recognizing signs of depression and urged those struggling to seek help.

“Life does move on,” he stated, highlighting that there are many resources available for those in need, including government and family support.

Those in need of help can call or text 211. It's free, confidential, and available 24/7. The same resources are offered using the 988 hotline.
