Greenacres, FL — Two women are dead following a reported shooting early Monday morning in a residential area of Greenacres, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO).
According to PBSO, deputies responded shortly after 7 a.m. to reports of shots fired in the 500 block of Shady Pine Way, located in Greenacres, Palm Beach County, just west of Lake Worth and part of the greater South Florida region.
When deputies arrived, they found one adult female deceased at the scene and a second adult female suffering from gunshot wounds. The injured woman was transported to a local hospital, where she later passed away from her injuries, officials said.
PBSO stated that the suspect allegedly retreated into a nearby residence following the shooting. Deputies attempted to make contact and asked the suspect to exit the home. After receiving no response, the PBSO SWAT Team was called in to assist.
During SWAT’s assessment of the situation, investigators determined that the suspect was no longer a threat, according to the sheriff’s office.
Detectives from PBSO’s Violent Crimes Division remain on scene and are executing a residential search warrant as part of the investigation. Authorities emphasized that the case remains active and ongoing.
PBSO also confirmed that there is no threat to the community at this time. No suspect information or motive has been released, and the identities of the victims have not yet been made public.
